Street Lifestyle Photography

With the beautiful Klyde Warren Park attracting lots of people in the downtown Dallas area, this provided an opportunity to venture into some of the smaller side streets and get some great shots. The theme was lifestyle photography and Anya did an amazing job. She was a trooper walking in some massive heels and never missing a beat.

TFP shoot concept

The shoot was scheduled to start in the evening, and I anticipated the sun would be set within the hour that we started shooting. The buildings cast some beautiful and soft shadows along the streets. Some of the buildings provided great backlight and reflections for certain shots.

Meeting Anya in Dallas

The shoot was the first time I had an opportunity to work with Anya. She is a local model and student in the Dallas area. Anya wanted to try a concept that allowed her to move and just explore the area around her.

Camera and Gear

I carried my Sony a7 and my super sharp Sony Zeiss 55ww 1.8 lens on my shoulder, and a small backpack on my back. The concept was minimal. The Sony Zeiss lens performed perfectly, providing super sharp images.

What I learned from this shoot

I really didn’t like the inconsistency of the shadows and colors as the evening was moving forward. The sun dropped fast, and I made sure to keep changing my ISO and shutter to compensate for the failing light. Next time I would stay within more brightly lit areas or areas that provided more sun reflection or lighter backgrounds. I loaded the photos on my computer after the shoot. It was fun and great chance to explore the downtown Dallas area. I look forward to returning in the new year as the weather starts to heat back up!
