Every small business starts with one small step. This step is usually a culmination of passion, many sleepless nights, and all the scary thoughts that come along with starting a new business venture. From all this, Portraits of Dallas was born. It is a photography blog dedicated to documenting photography resources, creative learning and photography inspiration.

About Me

Now for formal introductions. My name is Jason Pena, and I am a professional Digital Designer based in North Dallas. My creative career consists of projects and companies that span many different industries. Today, I am currently a Sr. Digital Designer Manager for a medical company based in Addison, TX. I’ve had the opportunity to follow my passion for mentorship, art and design in my professional career for the past 13+ years. From motion graphics to web design, I feel these experiences have led me to the path I am following today.

Making Portraits of Dallas

Portraits of Dallas is not just another photography blog. I want it to be about so much more then taking photographs. I want to specialize in creating meaningful relationships with my network, and specializing in 1-on-1 portrait photography. From these sessions, I hope to capture beautiful personalities in the studio, outdoors, or in the comfort of their own home.

Documenting all my learning

This website will also allow me to document all my learning in portrait photography. I am very much a beginner as I am writing this blog post. I have learned so much during the 2016 year, and I look forward to sharing this knowledge with others. Part of Portraits of Dallas will focus on teaching and helping others. I want to give other people the opportunity to learn like I have. I want to give direction, and I want others to have just as much fun as I have.

3 Core Values to live by in business

  1. Servant Leadership – In order to be a successful leader, I believe you need to first be a successful servant. To lead by example has been something I have learned in my career, and I hope to help others learn this valuable lesson.
  2. Live with Courage, Integrity and Love – The people that come into your life are very important, and you can learn so much from them. Live with an open personality and don;t be scared to meet and greet people around you.
  3. Constant growth and learning – Never stop learning. It does not matter if you think you have mastered your field of study. Learning helps us all feel like kids, and this can be a really good thing for your creativity.

Portraits of Dallas Mission

Experience life around us, capture beautiful portraits, and never stop learning.
